Ingredients
- 50gr butter
- 55 gr all purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 350 ml milk (room temperature)
- nutmeg ( 1/2 teaspoon but use according to your taste)
- white pepper (you can also use black pepper – 1/2 teaspoon but use according to your taste)
- 1 egg (around 45gr)
- cheese – optional
Preparation
- Add the butter to a pot and was it is heated in medium to high temperature start adding the flour together with the salt
- Do not stop stirring
- Once you have a very dry mixture start adding the milk but little by little to avoid clumps
- Let it simmer until it thickens
- When the sauce is ready you add the spices and check the salt
When is the sauce ready
- You taste it, so that you know the flour is cooked
- You see it from the texture.
- Beat the egg
- When the sauce is ready, remove from the fire and add the egg
Tip!
It is a fairly easy sauce to do and if you stop stirring and you have clumps in there. Even if it gets clumpy, there is an easy way to fix. Just use in the end your hand immersion blender and the texture will be as desired!
