Vitello Tonato

This is a very typical first dish in Piemonte, Italy. You will find it in almost every restaurant in Turin. It is a very interesting combination of meat and fish that I find delicious.

If you can make your own mayo the dish really takes off!

Ingredients

  • 200gr beef meat  (the bak part of the back leg )
  • Mayonnaise
  • 5 anchovies
  • 1 can of tuna
  • Capers for decoration

Steps

  • Boil the meat for 90 min with 1,5lt water, 0,5lt of white wine, 1 onion, 1 leek and 1 celery leaf
  • Let it cool down and put it in the fridge
  • For the sauce you mix the mayo, the anchovies and the tuna
  • Serve the sauce on the thin sliced meat
