lard dough pie crust with a bit of butter – using leftover lard

There are only a few ingredients and you can make this dough home and fresh but is indeed a bit of your time and effort needed.

We used the lard we cooked the duck. If your lard changed color and doesn´t have anymore a bright color do not use it.

This crust has a very strong taste of lard. If you wish it to be less strong, maybe put a bit of butter more and less lard.

Ingredients

  • 150gr flour
  • pinch of salt
  • 165gr of lard
  • 20gr of butter
  • 3 tablespoons water

Steps

  • Add the flour and the salt in a bowl and mix them
  • Open a small hole in the middle and add the lard and the butter
  • Mix well and knead it for a bit
  • Add the water and it will get a nice consistency
  • Butter an oven tray and open your dough there
  • With a fork make some holes before you add the filling
