Should I take my canary outside in winter months?

In general finches can survive in natures with temperatures below 0. The biggest problem though is the temperature difference. Cause when you take your bird from the interior of the house, that might be 20 degrees Celsius outside to 0 degrees Celsius, this is a huge difference and this is what might hurt your bird.

What we do, is let the door open, so that the temperature goes gradually lower. Then we take the cage out. We let the cage outside in a sunny day. If you have a storm or it is raining heavily, there is no reason to consider to take out your pet.

The sun is very important for the health of your canary, so let it stay outside even if the temperatures are close to 0 degrees.

Never leave alone your canary, while outside. You never know when a bird of prey will pass by and if you are outside with your bird, you can also notice if something is wrong. If it is not happy chirping, singing or going around and instead becomes a fluffy ball, maybe this is not its best day to stay outside.

Last but not least remember, that you should not let your canary in a place where there are drafts.
