no oven Mousaka – meat and dairy free

You do not have an oven but you like the greek traditional mousaka? We have the solution for you.

You can prepare this delicious typical and traditional greek dish even without having an oven. You will definitely find it all over in Cyclades. Instead of meat, we used soya and instead of the greek yogurt we used soya yogurt!

You can fry (or also grill) the aubergines. Frying pan needed here.

Prepare a potato purree (with fresh butter-try the one of Naxos! and vegetable milk). Pot needed here.

Prepare your soya sauce as you like it (in the end of the post, we will add our recipe and the video, that you can follow with soya instead of meat). Pot needed here.

Instead of bechamel, we used a part of the purree and we added soya yogurt! Add the seasonings (salt, freshly grounded pepper and white pepper if you wish).

Both the purree and the purree with the soya yogurt must have a consistency that is firm. So when adding the milk in the purree, add it little by little.

Then is the assembly time! You start with the fried or grilled aubergine, then purree, then minced meat, then aubergine, then purree, then minced meat and in the end the purree with the soya yogurt!

We added on top some no-dairy cheese.

Delicious!
