Half of their name (Graphosoma semipunctatum) is of Greek origin and half of Latin. Graphi (γραφή) means marking and soma (σώμα) means body.
They are found normally in plants of the Apiaceae family and Naxos is full of fennel plants. They reproduce on the flowers of the fennel plant and leave the eggs also there.
