Limnothalassa Alike Naxos – Paradise for birdwatchers – with video!

First thing to mention is that if the year has been quite dry, if you go in the end of the summer or September, you might find no water there. The biggest amount of water comes from the mountain Zas cause the salt water in this lake is very limited.

This wetland in Naxos is the biggest and most important in Cyclades, it hosts more than 80 different plants, while have been more than 120 different birds seen there (several among them are birds of prey).

It is a vital stop also for migrating birds, snakes and amphibians. Famous are the flamingos that rest in this lake.

Some of the plants and animals are listed in the first link of the bibliography in greek and some of the birds in the list about birdwatching (the 1st and 2nd links).

Here you can get a taste of the Limnothalassa in Naxos and the beach Laguna across it!
