Kulurakia – greek traditional Easter cookie recipe

Ingredients

  • 100ml olive oil
  • 60gr sugar
  • 2 tablespoons orange juice
  • 1/3 teaspoon baking soda
  • zest of 1/4 orange
  • 1 tablespoon orange pulp (so after making a juice for you, keep the pulp!!!)
  • 30ml milk
  • 210gr all purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder

Steps

  • Mix the olive oil with the sugar till it gets whitish
  • Mix the orange juice with the soda well and add it to the olive oil
  • Add in your mi the zest and the pulp of the orange
  • Warm the milk a tiny bit and add it to your mix. It shouldn´t be hot.
  • Add the flour together with the baking powder
  • You should have an oil dough but that is easy to handle and roll out
  • The typical shapes are the ones you see in the fotos but you an totally do the shapes you wish
  • I roll out strings of 20m long and approximately less than a cm thick and when I have all of them, I shape them
  • Bake in a preheated oven in 180 degrees until the get golden on top (for approximately 20 minutes)
