Bechamel – GF and DF

Ingredients

  • 70 ml olive oil
  • 80 gr gluten free flour
  • 1 teaspoon corn flour
  • 500 ml soja milk (room temperature)
  • 100 ml water
  • nutmeg ( 1 teaspoon but use according to your taste)
  • salt
  • white pepper (you can also use black pepper)

Preparation

  • Add the olive oil to a pot and was it is heated in medium to high temperature start adding the flour and the corn flour
  • Do not stop stirring
  • Once you have a very dry mixture start adding the milk but little by little to avoid clumps
  • Let it simmer until it thickens
  • When the sauce is ready you add the spices and the salt

When is the sauce ready

  • You taste it, so that you know the flour is cooked
  • You see it from the texture.

Tip!

It is a fairly easy sauce to do and if you stop stirring and you have clumps in there. Even if it gets clumpy, there is an easy way to fix. Just use in the end your hand immersion blender and the texture will be as desired!

Optional

You can add an egg when the sauce is done and not that warm any more. Stir very well and bake it normally. The texture changes slightly and it is a nice and easy option to get your bechamel be a bit tanned.

GF stands for gluten free.

DF stands for dairy free.
